In 2013, the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves launched the 2nd round of the Spark Fund – a grant facility designed to mirror early stage investment. The goal of this facility is to help enterprises reach commercial viability and scale by funding business capacity development and growth and invest in enterprises with scalable approaches that have the potential to transform the sector through their success. Four of six grantees selected for Round 2 were developing are scaling up the manufacturing and distribution of clean cooking fuels such as green charcoal, biogas, and bioethanol. Read more
The Alliance, in partnership with the Colombian Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, Patrimonio Natural, and Fundación Natura, will hold an International Workshop on Improved Cookstoves: Igniting Innovation and Fueling the Sector in Colombia. The workshop will be held from October 8-10, 2014 at the Hotel Sonesta in Bogotá, Colombia.
ISO Technical Committee 285 on Clean Cookstoves and Clean Cooking Solutions has established 2 Task Groups and 4 Working Groups to develop standards and discuss topics related to the committee’s work. In addition to regular webinar meetings, Working and Task Group experts (nominated by their national standards committees or their external liaison organizations) will meet at the upcoming ISO Working and Task Groups Meeting for TC 285.
